Below is a reference designed to help you make the right decisions
for dyeing dyeable prom shoes in dark tones like black & red
or lighter tones like gold and silver.
TIPS ON DYEABLE PROM SHOE FABRICS & TEXTURES
As a general rule, it’s best to match your dyeable prom
shoes with the fabric texture and color of the bottom of your prom
gown or ensemble. This will draw less attention away from the prom
dress and create a seamless flow between your gown and your feet.

2008 PROM SHOE FABRICS
|
 |
"Luxe
or Crepe Boca" (Great for Dark Prom Shoes Like Black)
Luxe replaced the previous industry standard of peau de soie (a
cottony textured fabric) and is by far the most popular and best
selling material for dyeable prom shoes. Luxe or Crepe boca complements
most of the prom dresses available today and dyes much truer on
dark colors than peau. Luxe represents a cross texture between peau
de soie and satin and will look beautiful with any crepe or soft
textured dress. Luxe does have a little sheen that allows it to
match up to many of today’s satin prom dresses, although the
sheen is not vibrant like satin. |
 |
"Ultra Satin" (Best for Lighter
Prom Shoes Like Gold) This is the most innovative new fabric
in the marketplace today with a similar look to the high-end silk
faced satin material at a fraction of the cost. Exclusive to Dyeables,
Ultra Satin is a dyeable prom shoe fabric that complements both
dull and matte satin gowns. Peau de Soie also matches these gowns
but does not dye well to dark colors. "Ultra Satin" material
dyes beautifully and easily! |
 |
"Satin"
(Great With Prom Shoes of Deep Color Tones like Red, Burgundy, Navy)
Dyeable prom shoes made of satin fabric (a high gloss material)
can be matched nicely with 2008 prom dresses or gowns that have
satin bottoms. Satin is a good choice for matching velvet dresses
and will dye exceptionally well to deep color tones such as navy,
brown, and burgundy. Even un-dyed satin takes on a pinkish hue outside.
Due to the reflective power of satin, the material experiences the
greatest color variance between outdoor (natural) and indoor lighting. |
 |
"Silk
Satin" This natural prom shoe fabric has a soft
satin sheen, a soft texture and a slight off-white hue. Silk Satin
is an ideal fabric to complement prom dresses that are made of Silk
or have a "diamond white" or natural white silk tone.
All of the Platinum
Collection by Dyeables
or the Dorianis by Touch-Ups
are made of the finest Italian Silk Satins. |
 |
"Peau de Soie" (Dyes Great for Light Colored
Prom Shoes) Many of the 2008 prom shoes by Nina use both
Peau de soie and Satin to create a dramatic and stylish look. (Nina
is the only brand we offer making dyeable prom shoes in this fabric).
Peau de Soie (a cottony textured fabric) dyes great with light colors
and works extremely well with crepe or silk dresses but will not
dye well to dark colors. Peau de soie is the material least affected
by the ultra violet light spectrum found outdoors. |
It doesn’t matter what color you may want for your dyeable
prom shoes in 2008 …black, red, gold, silver or pink! 2008
dyeable prom shoes by Nina,
Colorful Creations,
Dyeables,
Touch Ups,
Alisha Hill and Coloriffics
can be dyed to match your dress.
